As I was taking pictures on a rainy day on the Burrard Inlet in British Columbia, Canada I saw a large squall approaching across the straits. Looking for shelter I noticed an old, overgrown concrete structure a quick climb away. Once inside it occurred to me that I was in an old bunker from WW 2, as I learned later it was part of the coastal defense system in BC against attacks from Japanese forces from the Pacific ocean.
As I watched the squall approaching I realized that I was looking at exactly what soldiers were seeing 75 years before, waiting for an attack year after year which never came.
